Pharmacological effects and mechanism of action

The plants used in the formulation of Arthotex capsules (frankincense, turmeric, and ginger) all have strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. The active ingredients in these plants work by inhibiting inflammatory pathways (lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase pathways) and inhibiting the biosynthesis of inflammatory mediators (clostrin and prostaglandins). In addition, the Boswellic acid in frankincense can reduce the number of leukocytes (generating some inflammatory mediators) in the synovial fluid (joint fluid). In this way, appropriate analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects are observed in joint injuries such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
